Get Ready to
Grill! |
June
28 , 2007
4th
of July is the biggest grilling day of the year. Burgers, brats, hot dogs…
it’s all served in style, surrounded by the red, white, and blue.
Well, at Doig, we like
to class things up, so this year I’m sharing my personal favorite
grilling recipe… one that’s unique and won’t be found
on every deck in the neighborhood.
I hope you enjoy this delicious dish and have fun with your own 4th of July
grilling
madness.
Bob Doig
P.S. For a bit of fruity fun from the Doig girls,
try this Melon
Margarita recipe.
MARINATED GRILLED TUNA STEAK
20 MINUTE MARINADE
¼
cup olive oil
4 teaspoons Old Bay seasoning
2 limes, juiced
Garlic-lots
2 teaspoons cilatro leaves
1 lb tuna steaks (sushi-grade)
Combine
first 5 ingredients in dish. Add fish. Turn to coat 20 minutes, turning
occasionally.
Grill
or broil 8-10 min per inch of thickness or until fish flakes easily with
fork. Baste with marinade halfway though cooking.

Michelle and Stephanie |
October,
2006
As
Doig continues to grow, so has its need to expand its staff. On October
2nd, Michelle Sorenson and Stephanie Edminster joined the Doig sales team.
Michelle Sorenson, Doig's newest customer service representative, brings
to Doig over 17 years experience in administrative and customer service.
She has lived all over the world (her dad was career Army,) and currently
resides in Port Washington
, Wisconsin . Michelle looks forward to bringing her accumulation of work
and personal experiences to the table. On a personal note, she enjoys
walking her dogs, roller-blading, traveling, reading, and staying in touch
with friends. As Michelle is a very results-oriented person, one of her
favorite quotes is “Git-R-Done.” Thank goodness for Larry
the Cable Guy!
Stephanie Edminster joins Doig in a newly created position: associate
customer service representative. She lives in Grafton , Wisconsin and
has two adorable nephews. Stephanie has numerous college business and
accounting courses under her belt and now attends MATC part time for her
Associates Degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences. Fun fact: this little
spit-fire is also a talented manicurist! Steph loves to laugh, read, work-out,
kickbox, and have fun wherever she goes. She is excited to join her dad,
Doig's engineering manager Mike Edminster , and looks forward to achieving
goals, overcoming obstacles, and assisting in Doig's growth.

Introducing Bob
Brown |
July,
2006
A
big DOIG welcome to Bob Brown, Doig's new director of sales.
Bob
Brown will be responsible for increasing DOIG’s business and managing
sales teams. As Bob states, he looks forward to “helping others
become who they are” through sales training, teamwork, and setting
records. Bob has seen many sides of the sales and service industry with
big name companies like IBM, Wang Labs, Octel, Wiltel, and SBC.
Bob
lives in Hartland with his two teenage children, Todd and Kimberly. Outside
of work, he likes racquetball, war history books and documentaries, and
shows like Forensic Files, Psychic Detective, and Dog Whisperer. Bob’s
mantra: “In the end, we will be remembered for how well we served
and helped each other, not how much we had.” Not a bad philosophy
for someone working towards your automation solutions!

Working Workout |
February,
2006
For
over a year, Doig employees have participated in a lunch-time health and
wellness program complete with 2 sessions for exercising. Membership now
includes 33% of the company!
Did
You Know?
On-site exercise programs can improve job performance, according to a
6-week study of 210 women and men conducted at the University of Bristol.
On days when participants exercised, they were an average of 15 percent
more productive, got along better with coworkers, and managed their time
more efficiently than on days they didn't work out. Researchers say getting
the blood pumping energizes employees, increases their level of concentration,
and makes them more tolerant of heavy workloads.

Kristina
Participates In Bowl For Kids' Sake |
 February,
2005
You may be under the assumption that all Doig employees devote 100% of their
lives to the betterment of Doig Corporation. While the devotion aspect is
absolutely true, Doig employees also find success while participating in
extra-curricular and community activities outside of work. Kristina Sjoberg
is the perfect example. In February 2005, Kristina organized a sponsor team
for the fundraising campaign Bowl for Kids’ Sake. This annual event
raises funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washington County, America’s
preeminent youth mentoring organization that creates and nurtures friendships
between adults and children.
Team captain, Kristina, has participated in the event for three years now
and even won the highly-coveted Spirit Award in 2004. She exclaims, “For
me, the greatest satisfaction comes from knowing we’ve helped kids
in our own community.” An added bonus: Kristina was able to recruit
Doig inside sales member, Kim Infalt, to join the team and all the bowling
fun this year! We just hope the ladies are as good at bowling as our own,
Randy Jung!

Congratulations
to Mike Edminster, Doig's new Engineering Manager |
November
1, 2004
Mike Edminster has been part of the Doig Engineering and Technology Department
since June 2001, and on November 1st, he was promoted to the position of
engineering manager. One of the advantages Mike brings to this new position
is 25 years experience in an engineering capacity. One of Mike’s goals
as the engineering manager is to bring in additional engineering personnel
to better assist customers. Mike also wants to redesign the engineering
department, complete with functional demos and a test lab that will aid
both Doig engineers and future customer projects.
Prior to Doig, Mike was employed by Exacto Spring as a controls engineer.
He also held engineering positions at recognizable companies such as Mark2
Automation, Kohler Co., and Doerr Electric. A Grafton native, Mike holds
an engineering degree in industrial electronics.
He has been married to his high-school sweetheart, Kim, for 25 years and
has three daughters and two adorable grandsons that were featured in the
last DoigTalk (Fall, 2004). Mike enjoys hunting, fishing, and golfing. All
of which, he admits, he is “mediocre at best.” Unfortunately,
the critics agree. Mike’s last hunting adventure only rendered a deer
on the front fender. |
Pat
Binder: Telesales for
all of Wisconsin |
September
7, 2004
Congratulations to Pat Binder, Doig's new telesales professional. A long
time resident of Ozaukee County, Pat and her husband Tom live in Mequon.
They have two grown children, Kyle and Corey, and a grandson, Cameron.
Pat’s goal is to increase Doig’s business through the redesigned
telesales position. She looks forward to the challenge and anticipates having
a lot of fun in the process. Pat has seen many sides of sales and the service
industry. For a time, she and her husband owned their own business. She’s
spent time in retail and has worked in both inside and outside sales in
industries including telecommunications and food distribution.
Outside of work, Pat likes golfing, reading, bicycling and Pilates. She’s
also a sports fan; she and Tom are involved in their grandson’s athletic
endeavors (baseball, basketball, football, etc.) She follows the Packers
and Badgers too. She also enjoys spending time with her large extended family,
with many relatives in southeast Wisconsin. Pat’s mantra: “Nothing
great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.” |
Kristina
Sjoberg: Inside Sales Team Member for Southeastern and Northwestern Wisconsin |
September
7, 2004
Congratulations to Kristina Sjoberg, Doig's newest inside sales staff member
for Southeastern and Northwestern Wisconsin. Kristina, originating from
Schofield, Wisconsin, went to school in LaCrosse for an associates degree
in marketing. Kristina has worked in the customer service field for almost
nine years at places such as Great Lakes Media, West Bend Savings Bank,
and APAC.
She and her fiancé, Glenn, recently welcomed an addition to their
family, a Papillion Yorkshire mix puppy named Russo. Kristina enjoys going
for long walks with Glenn and Russo. She also participates in a bowling
league, plays tennis, golfs, and travels up north to visit family. Feeling
like you need a good laugh? Kristina has already earned a reputation at
Doig as the entertainer with a full repertoire of jokes! |

Mindy
Donald Joins Doig As A Summer Intern |
Summer,
2004
This summer, Doig Corporation was lucky to have a Mindy Donald as a high
school intern.
Mindy Donald, sophomore at Ozaukee High
School, was a tremendous help this summer as the marketing intern. This
talented athlete took a break from her busy schedule of cross-country, soccer,
basketball, and softball to help with Doig’s database updates, direct
mailings, literature maintenance, and other odd jobs. In her spare time,
Mindy likes to do anything that is outdoors: water skiing, hiking, four-wheeling...
oh yes! And dancing with the Doig girls! |
Congratulations
to Kevin Timm, Doig's new Application Technician |
April
1, 2004
Kevin Timm has earned a promotion to the position of Engineering & Technology
Department Application Technician Safety/Extrusion (the title was a bit
long, folks, so you’ll see “Application Technician” on
the business cards.) His excellent performance over the years with our aluminum
extrusion product lines made him the perfect candidate to head up Doig’s
safety products. Due to an increase in customer demand and depth of commitment
towards safety products, it became inevitable that the Engineering &
Technology Department needed to expand. Kevin will be responsible for assisting
customers and our sales staff in all aspects of safety applications. |
Congratulations
to Tina Krause, Doig's new Materials Manager |
March
1, 2004 Tina
Krause has been part of the Doig sales team since April 1997 and on March
1, 2004 accepted the position of materials manager. In this new role, Tina
is responsible for purchasing, inventory management, and supervising both
the warehouse and extrusion departments. One of the advantages that Tina
brings to this position is her extensive experience as a sales person; she
knows and understands the needs of the customer. Some of Tina’s goals
as the materials manager are to continuously improve Doig’s on-time
percentage as well as evaluate the inventory levels for optimum stocking.
When asked about her new promotion, Tina replies, "I am excited by
the continuous innovative changes and progression of the company while it
still maintains the small-company, family-owned feel. And, I truly appreciate
the endless opportunity to personally grow within Doig."

Doig
Awarded Top Distributor from ControlAir Inc. |
September
11, 2003
Lobster bakes and boils have long been a tradition in New England; however,
ControlAir Inc. decided the folks on the east coast should not have all
the fun. On Thursday, September 11th, ControlAir treated all the employees
of Doig Corporation to an unforgettable lobster boil party on the beach
of Lake Michigan in Port Washington. The event was in celebration of Doig
achieving the ControlAir Number Two Distributor Award this past September.
To thank the organization for their fine efforts, dozens of live lobsters
were flown in from Maine for an end-of-summer party.
It was quite a sight to see Doig members tying plastic bibs around their
necks and digging in! When the last of the lobster tails was devoured, the
employees were a mess; however, clean up was easy with just a few playful
dips into the icy waters of Lake Michigan. |
Doig
Receives "Top Distributor" Award from Tol-O-Matic |
December,
2003
For the first time in our history, Doig Corporation was awarded the “Top
Distributor” award from Tol-O-Matic. We were the nation’s largest
distributor for Tol-O-Matic motion control products and the nation’s
largest overall distributor.
We are honored and humbled by this accomplishment, but the real reason for
our success is the loyalty of our customers, the dedication of our sales
force to continually provide cost-effective, productivity-enhancing solutions
for our customers, and the awesome performance of Tol-O-Matic as a supplier
of linear automation products. Congrats to all! |
